14 – The Ten Commandments

It’s known that the Roman Catholic Church founded Islam to stop the spread of Judaism and genuine Christianity so the Papacy could gain control of Jerusalem – a plan that back-fired.  But the Vatican is now trying to make amends to Islam.

Question – Why did the Catholic (universal) Church change the Ten Commandments? This universal church removed the 2nd Commandment, split 10th into two, and changed the Sabbath Day (Saturday), a day hallowed (means: set aside for a holy convocation) by God Himself, to a Sunday for sun worshippers. (Check the original 10 Commandments in Exodus 20)  How pagan can Universalism get before Catholics recognize it’s a pagan religion ?
“wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction.” Matt 7:13.

Question –
How “broad” is Universal? Which “leads to” where?   Even sincere Catholics have always had a hard time understanding the plain Word of God, unless He’s a Pope   i.e  a man, running a universal church, trusted above of God?  The Greek word “anti” also means “instead of”.   Hence, “anti-Christ” … “instead of Christ”.
Has the penny dropped yet?  Here are some classic, official quotes by the Vatican. Someone/thing claims it’s MARK of authority, authority, even over God ?

A) “The Pope has power to change times, abrogate laws, and to dispense with all things, even the precepts of Christ.” (Deretal De Translat. Episcop, Cap) “For in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” Col. 2:9

B) “Sunday is our mark of authority … the church is above the Bible and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” (Catholic Record Sept 1, 1923)  Good enough for Christ, but not Christians?

C) “She took the pagan Sunday and made it the Christian Sunday… and thus the pagan Sunday dedicated to Balder (Baldr, Baal-Tir) became the Christian Sunday sacred to Jesus.”  (Catholic World, Mar. 1894, p.809)

D) “Of course the Catholic church claims the change (to Sunday) was her act… and the mark of ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters.” Letter Oct 28, 1895. C.Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons

E) “He (the Pope) can pronounce sentences and judgments in contradiction to the rights of nations, to the law of God and man… He can free himself from the commands of the apostles, he being their superior, and from
the rules of the old testament.”
(Deretalia, de Translat. Espiscop, Cap)  A man to over-rule God’s law, really?

F) “The Pope… can dispense above the law; and of wrong make right by correcting and changing laws.”  (Pope Nicholas, Dist. 96, quoted in “Facts for the Times” pp55, 56. 1893)  “he (666 Beast) shall speak great words against the most High… and think to change times and laws…” Daniel 7:25-26… He ‘thinks’ he can, but really?]

G) “The Bible says remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day.  The Catholic Church says‘No’  By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week.  And the entire world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church.”  (Father Enright, American Sentinal, June 1893)  “… for that day shall not come, except … that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God.” 2 Thess. 2:3-4 …  re. A,B,D,E,F above.

H) “If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day.  In keeping the Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church.”  (A. Smith, Chancellor Archdiocese of Baltimore, replies for the Cardinal, Feb 10, 1920) [“his deadly wound was healed and all the world wondered after the beast.” Rev 13:3]

I) “Reason and common sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives: either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday.  Compromise is impossible.”  (The Catholic Mirror, December 23, 1893)

Punishment for disagreeing with Catholicism was death and by the tens of millions according to history. Having your own opinion defines a heretic.
