72 – Pope Pushes for “Sunday Laws”

This has been on the Vatican Agenda for centuries – first some background

The ‘Sunday Observance Act 1677 (UK)’ (and the like)  will be re-instated to catch the “Saturday Sabbath Observers”.

(A loose translation of the article below is that the Pope is urging the world’s nations to choose some outside power to help regulate issues that cross their borders. I wonder who he might have in mind?)

Pope Francis is pushing for a global authority that supersedes the rights of individual countries, all with the goal of pursuing the common good. “Think of the great contemporary challenges of climate change, new slavery and peace,” he told members of the Pontifical Academy. They met last week at the Vatican to discuss the topic of: “Nation, State, Nation-State.”…
The Pope also said individual countries can no longer look out for their own people by themselves due to globalization.
“The nation-state is no longer able to procure the common good of its populations alone. The common good has become global and nations must associate for their own benefit,” Francis said. …
The Pope also pushed the idea of supranational entities to the conference. A supranational union is defined as a type of multinational political union where negotiated power is delegated to an authority by governments of member states.

‘Time of the end’ prophecies are being rapidly fulfilled. Compulsory Sunday worship is coming or else you won’t be able to buy or sell.

Below are some official Vatican quotes about this.

  1. A) “Sunday is our mark of authority… The church is above the Bible and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.” (Catholic Record Sept 1, 1923) Good enough for Christ, but not Christians?
  2. B) “She took the pagan Sunday and made it the Christian Sunday… and thus the pagan Sunday dedicated to Balder (Baldr, Baal-Tir) became the Christian Sunday sacred to Jesus.”  (Catholic World, Mar. 1894, p.809)
  3. C) “Of course the Catholic church claims the change (to Sunday) was her act… and the mark of ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters.” Letter Oct 28, 1895. C.Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons
  4. D) “He (the Pope) can pronounce sentences and judgments in contradiction to the rights of nations, to the law of God and man… He can free himself from the commands of the apostles, he being their superior, and from the rules of the old testament.” (Deretalia, de Translat. Espiscop, Cap) A man to over-rule God’s law, really?
  5. E) “The Pope… can dispense above the law; and of wrong make right by correcting and changing laws.”  (Pope Nicholas, Dist. 96, quoted in “Facts for the Times” pp55, 56. 1893) [“he (666 Beast) shall speak great words against the most High… and think to change times and laws…” Daniel 7:25-26… He ‘thinks’ he can, but really?]
  6. F) “The Bible says remember that thou keep holy the Sabbath day.  The Catholic Church says ‘No’! By my divine power I abolish the Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day of the week.  And lo the entire world bows down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy Catholic Church.”  (Father Enright, American Sentinal, June 1893)  [“… for that day shall not come, except … that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God.” 2 Thess. 2:3-4] re. A,B,D,E,F above.
  7. G) “If Protestants would follow the Bible, they should worship God on the Sabbath Day.  In keeping the Sunday they are following a law of the Catholic Church.”  (A. Smith, Chancellor Archdiocese of Baltimore, replies for the Cardinal, Feb 10, 1920) [“his deadly wound was healed and all the world wondered after the beast.” Rev 13:3]
  8. I) “Reason and common sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives: either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday, or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday.  Compromise is impossible.”  (The Catholic Mirror, December 23, 1893)  Punishment for disagreeing with Catholicism was death and by the tens of millions according to history. Having your own opinion defines a heretic. What do you think?

In Matthew chapter 15, Jesus was responding to the Pharisees when He asked,

Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. KJV

Jesus replied to His disciples, “Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. 14 Leave them; they are blind guides.[d] If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”
